Today, I finished a mural at Bondi Beach legal graffiti wall...and what a relief it was! After starting out with an ambitious single day time limit, I soon realised that my plans for the mural would require a lot more time. So after 3 days it is finally complete!! However, I still had to limit some of the ideas to finish before the crazy winds came blasting in from the sea this afternoon.
The premise for creating the mural was firstly to gain some exposure for my artworks in a public place, as I had not painted in such a way for quite a while. My aim was to to create a work which invited viewers to utilise the concepts in the artwork for their photographs, the primary example being that of an illusion of being able to walk down a side street to the town and beach below through applying the trompe l'oeil technique.
I was happy with how it came out, however was a bit annoyed that I was given the space of wall I ended up painting. This is because I had requested a space further up the wall, which would have allowed for the perspective and dimensions of the archway and windows to be much more lifelike..and also, the piece underneath was part of a burner production which I would have preferred to leave on the wall and instead paint over other paintings of considerable lower quality!!
Anyway, all done now...Enjoy the photos!
